Forget Ash Wednesday. Happy Slash Wednesday!

Happy Slash Wednesday to all who celebrate!

Ash Wednesday has been celebrated around the world with solemn reflection since ancient times. But it’s the 21st century — so maybe it’s time to shake things up and celebrate Slash Wednesday instead!

Honoring the legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist, Slash Wednesday is the perfect excuse to rock out, wear a top hat and spread some guitar-shredding joy in your daily life.

👉 When is Ash Wednesday… I mean Slash Wednesday? This year Slash Wednesday is celebrated Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

How to Celebrate Slash Wednesday

1. Dress Like Slash

The most essential part of Slash Wednesday is looking the part! Channel your inner rock legend by donning:

  • A black top hat (a must-have!)

  • Dark sunglasses for mysterious rockstar vibes

  • A leather jacket or rock band tee (extra points for the Guns N’ Roses logo)

  • If really want to commit, grow out your curls or throw on a wig!

2. Start the Day With Some Slash Solos

Skip the usual morning meditation and instead wake up to some blistering guitar solos. Start your day with classics like:

  • Sweet Child O’ Mine

  • November Rain

  • Welcome to the Jungle

  • Paradise City

👉 Some Christian sects celebrate Ash Wednesday with the spreading of ashes on the their foreheads. The ashes symbolize mortality, mourning and penance. You can smoke Gitanes cigarettes (Slash’s brand of choice) to symbolize sex, drugs and Rock & Roll.

3. Incorporate Slash into Your Workday

Even if you have a 9-to-5, you can still bring the spirit of Slash Wednesday to the office:

  • Send out a morning email wishing everyone a “Happy Slash Wednesday” with a GIF of him absolutely shredding.

  • Rename meetings to things like “Welcome to the Spreadsheet Jungle” or “Sweet Child O’ KPIs.”

  • Encourage coworkers to wear band tees or play some classic rock on their breaks.

If you work remotely, use a Slash-themed virtual background or change your email signature to something like:
"Keep shredding, [Your Name] 🎸"
